Terms of Service

Last updated: 2026-10-16

JnJ Ventures, LLC, a California limited-liability company, doing business as Altitude.

These are the terms of the agreement between you and the company behind Altitude. We have written them in plain English rather than legalese, because a contract you cannot read is not much of an agreement. If anything here is unclear, email us and we will explain it.

Who we are

Altitude is run by JnJ Ventures, LLC, a California limited-liability company, doing business as Altitude. In these terms, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean that company, and “you” means the person using Altitude.

Our site is learnaltitude.com and the app is app.learnaltitude.com. You can reach a human at support@learnaltitude.com.

Using Altitude means you accept these terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Refund Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use Altitude.

You need to be 18

Altitude is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. If you are under 18, do not sign up.

Your account is yours alone. Keep your sign-in code to yourself, and do not let anyone else use your account.

What Altitude is

Altitude is a coding tutor in two halves. The web app holds the skill check, the project interview, your project ideas, your journey, your knowledge map, and your reviews. The workshop runs on your own computer: the altitude command-line tool and a plugin for your coding agent.

The workshop half works inside the coding agent you already use — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot today. You bring the coding agent; we bring the curriculum, the review, and the coaching.

You bring your own coding-agent subscription. That subscription is an agreement between you and Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor, or GitHub, not with us. We never route your work through our own API keys, we do not pay for it, and we cannot fix or refund it. If that provider changes its prices, limits, or terms, that is between you and them.

What is free and what is paid

The skill check, the project interview, and one batch of project ideas are free. You can find out whether Altitude suits you without paying anything.

Turning an idea into a learning journey — and everything after that — needs a subscription or an invite code.

Subscription, billing, and renewal

Altitude is $29 a month, billed monthly, or $290 a year, billed yearly. Either plan renews automatically until you cancel, and both give the same access. The price shown in Stripe Checkout before you confirm is the price you pay.

We take payment through Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

Cancel any time in Settings, under Manage subscription, or by emailing support@learnaltitude.com. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then.

Founding price: if you subscribed at the founding price, that price stays yours for as long as your subscription stays continuously active, even if our regular price changes. If it lapses or is refunded, subscribing again is at whatever the price is at that time.

If we change the price of a plan that is not price-locked, we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, so you can cancel first.

Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy. Invite-code access is free while the invite is valid; it is not a purchase, so there is nothing to refund.

Your account and fair use

Keep the email on your account current. It is how we reach you about billing and about your account.

Please do not:

  • break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service, or scrape it;
  • resell, republish, or redistribute the journeys, lessons, prompts, or review items;
  • use automation to fake evidence, farm points, or claim work you did not do — it only cheats your own learning, and we may suspend an account doing it;
  • use Altitude to break the law or to harm anyone.

The workshop tool runs on your machine, under your control. You are responsible for what you run there and for keeping your own backups of your work.

Your code stays yours

You own your project. We claim no rights over the code you write, and we take no licence over your repository.

The workshop sends us evidence about your learning — your answers, your questions, and the concepts a task touched — not your source files or your diffs. Exactly what it sends is listed in the Privacy Policy.

We use what you submit — answers, explanations, and questions — to run the tutor, to schedule your reviews, and to improve the product.

AI, and what it cannot promise

Altitude is built on AI models. Your skill-check answers, your review answers, and your explanations are graded by AI. Your lessons, project ideas, and journeys are generated by AI. An AI help agent may answer your support questions and email you.

AI output can be wrong. A grade can be unfair, an explanation can be mistaken, and a generated plan can contain bad advice. Check anything that matters, and tell us when something is wrong — email support@learnaltitude.com and a human will look at it.

We don’t guarantee that you will learn any particular thing, finish any particular project, pass an interview, or get a job. Altitude is a tutor, not an outcome.

Our content

The journeys, lessons, prompts, review items, concept graph, and the app itself belong to us or to our licensors. Your subscription is a personal licence to use them for your own learning — not to copy, publish, or resell them.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When a change matters — pricing, your rights, or how we use your data — we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change.

Continuing to use Altitude after a change takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, cancel; the Refund Policy still applies.

Ending the agreement

You can stop at any time: cancel in Settings, or email us and ask us to delete your account.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or charges a payment back. If we close your account for any other reason, or we discontinue Altitude, we refund the unused part of the billing period you have paid for.

No warranties

Altitude is provided “as is”. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose, and we disclaim the implied warranties that the law allows us to disclaim.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits; where that’s the case they apply only as far as the law permits. Nothing here waives a right you have under California consumer law, or any other consumer protection law, that cannot be waived.

Limits on our liability

If we are liable to you for anything connected with Altitude, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses — lost profits, lost data, lost opportunities — or for what your coding agent, its provider, or AI-generated code does on your machine.

Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limits; where that’s the case they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything else the law says cannot be limited.

If you cause us a problem

If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used Altitude — your content, your conduct, or your breach of these terms — you will cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it. We will tell you promptly, let you take over the defence, and not settle without your agreement.

Disputes, and the law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes go to the state or federal courts in California.

If you are a consumer somewhere whose law says otherwise, this does not take away your right to bring a claim where you live.

Email us first at support@learnaltitude.com. Nearly everything is fixable without lawyers.

The rest

  • If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands, and that part applies as far as it legally can.
  • Not enforcing something once does not give up the right to enforce it later.
  • These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy, are the whole agreement between us about Altitude.
  • You cannot transfer your account or these terms to someone else. We may transfer them if Altitude is sold or reorganised; your rights do not change.
